The Transfiguration of the Savior has a prominent place in Christianity and is celebrated on August 6th. Jesus Christ chose Peter, John, and James from among His disciples – and ascended Mount Tabor to pray. His three disciples were tired of the difficult ascent, and as they sat down to rest, they fell into a deep sleep. When they awoke, they saw the face of the Lord shining like the sun and His white garments shining like the light. In fact, two men surrounded Him and talked to Him, Moses and Elijah. Then a cloud enveloped them, and a voice came out of heaven, saying, “This is my Son; hear him.” By this fact, Christ reveals through His human nature, the glory of His divinity. The light of the Transfiguration is the Elusive Light of the Kingdom of God, which came into the world with the coming of Christ.
